From the Markagunt, riders can access both the Paiute Trail System and the Great Western Trail. Those systems, in turn, connect to the Arapeen Trail System, creating thousands of miles of riding opportunities across Utah.

Why Start in Duck Creek Village?
We're a little biased, but we believe Duck Creek Village is the perfect base camp for your off-road adventure.
Located in the heart of the Markagunt Plateau at nearly 8,500 feet in elevation, Duck Creek puts you within minutes of some of the area's most popular destinations, including Strawberry Point, Cascade Falls, Navajo Lake, Mammoth Cave, and countless scenic overlooks.
Trail access is available directly from town, allowing you to unload once and spend your entire vacation riding.
Other access points can be found in Hatch, Panguitch, and Parowan, and there are numerous dispersed camping areas throughout Cedar Mountain for those who prefer camping under the stars.

What Are the Trails Like?
The Markagunt Trail System offers something for nearly every rider.
Most routes are open to vehicles up to 72 inches wide, with a smaller number of 60-inch and 50-inch trails available.
Many trails follow Forest Service roads that are relatively smooth and easy to navigate. Others feature rocky terrain, berms, ruts, creek crossings, and occasional ledges up to 12 inches tall that add excitement without being overly technical.
You'll find everything from relaxing scenic rides through pine forests to challenging mountain routes that reward riders with unforgettable views.
Several overlook trails travel near steep cliffs and dramatic drop-offs. While the views are spectacular, riders who are uncomfortable with heights may want to choose alternate routes.
