The Virgin Rim is a dramatic geological formation stretching roughly 14 miles along the edge of the Markagunt Plateau. Towering 1,000 to 1,500 feet above the valleys below, the rim offers some of the most breathtaking views anywhere in Southern Utah.
From many of the overlooks along the rim, visitors can look out across the rugged wilderness leading toward Zion National Park, with expansive views that stretch for dozens of miles.
Several well-known destinations along the rim provide outstanding viewpoints:
Strawberry Point marks the eastern end of the Virgin Rim and is famous for its sweeping views toward Zion National Park. From this vantage point, visitors can look west and see much of the dramatic 14-mile stretch of the rim.
Lars Fork Overlook sits roughly halfway between Strawberry Point and Cascade Falls and is a popular OHV-accessible overlook, making it a favorite stop for ATV and UTV riders exploring the mountain.
Cascade Falls Trailhead lies near the western end of the rim and provides access to the beautiful Cascade Falls. This waterfall marks the headwaters of the North Fork of the Virgin River, which eventually flows south through Zion National Park and helped carve the world-famous The Narrows.

The area is also home to the Virgin River Rim Trail, often referred to simply as the Virgin Rim Trail. This scenic hiking and mountain biking trail stretches approximately 30 miles from Strawberry Point to Woods Ranch in Cedar Canyon.
Because of its length and elevation, many visitors choose to section hike the trail. The most popular segment runs from Strawberry Point to Cascade Falls, covering about 10 miles with parking available at both trailheads.
This trail is considered difficult, with an average elevation around 9,500 feet and a total elevation gain exceeding 4,000 feet. Despite the challenge, the trail rewards hikers and mountain bikers with stunning alpine scenery, forest riding, and unforgettable rim views.
