You must be 25 years of age of older to rent a machine.
You must be 18 years of age or older to operate a Mountain Life off-Road rented vehicle. The "responsible party" (the person 25 or over that rented the vehicle) must be present at all times.
All operators (drivers) must have a Utah OHV Safety Certificate, a valid drivers license, sign waivers of liability and participate in our vehicle and safety orientation. All operators cannot have had a DUI in the last three years.
You can take the course at https://recreation.utah.gov/off-highway-vehicles/. Please remember to take a screenshot of the certificate for rental and to present if you are pulled over on the trail. We also have tablets in the shop to take the course on. It takes about 15-20 minutes to complete, is free for those 18 and over and lasts a lifetime.
All passengers over the age of 18 will be required to sign a waiver of liability. All passengers under 18 will be required to have a parent or guardian sign a waiver of liability, they will be required to wear a helmet, they will need to be able to reach the safety rails or be in an approved DOT car seat.
Mountain Life Off-Road does not have full coverage insurance on the machines. If a renter damages a machine they are responsible for repairs on the machines and down time of the vehicle for repairs.
Utah requires helmets to be worn by minors under the age of 18. These are provided with your rental. Mountain Life Off-Road also provides helmets and googles at no extra charge for everyone participating.
A security deposit of $500 will be placed on every vehicle rented for incidentals. This is suggested to be held on a credit card because while we do not put a hold on the funds, if a debit card is used your bank will most likely put a 3-5 day hold on the funds.
For you safety and comfort we recommend the following: Long sleeve shirt, full length pants and closed toe shoes. Avoid anything billowing or flowing that may get caught on things. We recommend a light jacket and gloves in summer and a heavy jacket and gloves in the winter. These are just recommendations and not requirements.
We supply helmets, googles, cooler with waters, GPS tablets and paper maps. We suggest bringing snacks, beverages, and ways to take plenty of pictures and video. You will see some beautiful country and will want plenty of memories.
For summer months we suggest sunscreen, lip balm, a hat, gloves, a lightweight jacket and a lightweight face mask. There will be a good amount of dust on the trials and the sun can be brutal at this altitude.
For winter we suggest base layers, a heavy jacket, heavy gloves, a beanie, face mask or balaclava and warm footwear.
If you find yourself without these items, we sell most these items in our shop.
